Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin has been an actress in Canada and New Zealand for over a decade. Paquin, born in Winnipeg and was raised by Wellington Paquin's mother, made her acting debut in the role of Flora McGrath. For this role, she won an Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress in the romantic drama The Piano at the young age of 11. She was the second-youngest winner in Oscar History. Canadian-born New Zealand actor who won the Academy Award as a youngster in the category of Best Supporting actress for acting as the bright and interesting girl who played Holly Hunter's leading character The Piano. The role as Flora McGrath - the daughter of a Scottish mute pianist in New Zealand at mid-19th Century was a part she won when she attended an audition open to all. At nine the actress had none experience with acting. When she was a teenager she emigrated to the United States. Paquin had the role of lead in the film Fly Away Home in 1996 and had a minor part as Jane Eyre in the film when she was just a young child. Paquin appeared as Frankie Addams, a character in Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 in which she played the queen of Spain in a smaller character. She portrayed teens on the screen in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (1998), A Walk on the Moon (1998) as well as Almost Famous (2000). Also, she played the character of Polexia Aphrodisa.
