Despacito the song of Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee was released in the year 2017. It was the top streamed song at the time within six month. The single a mix of reggaeton and pop music did not just bring interest to reggaeton, but also drew interest to Latin music more generally. In Billboard's Top 100 in 2015 had two songs mostly of Spanish language, while the year 2016 featured four. During the height of Despacito's popularity in 2017 however 19 predominantly Spanish tracks made the Top 100, and in 2020 there were 41 songs. After Justin Bieber's remix in two languages Despacito (2017), a number of bilingual remixes Despacito (2017) well-known musicians soon started collaborating with reggaeton musicians, such as Drake with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna with Maluma for Medellin (2019). Some reggaeton artists have criticized the shift to popular music by 2020. However, a brand newly formed group called Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the evolution and development of reggaeton. It was often associated with electronic dance, as well as other forms.
